About Jim Bowen

Jim has been involved in the insurance industry and Applied Systems products for more than 20 years.  He began his career as a third-generation agent in an agency using The Agency Manager (TAM), eventually moving on to work for Applied Systems Inc. before returning to a WinTAM agency on the operations side. 

While employed at Applied Systems Inc., a leading insurance industry automation vendor, Jim worked with agencies of all sizes. For two years, he was a Training Specialist traveling nationally to train agents, brokers and MGAs on the use and implementation of WinTAM.  In Applied’s training centers, Jim taught classes on network administration, troubleshooting, accounting and general workflows. 

For three years, Jim was Director of Agency Training at Applied, responsible for delivering education to new and existing customers.  This included managing a department of 82 employees and six regional training centers.  He also developed Applied University, a live online classroom environment with more than 50 courses for both TAM and Vision.

Jim is active in the Applied Systems Client Network (ASCnet), the user group for Applied Systems. He is regularly the keynote presenter at ASCnet chapter meetings and has been a presenter at the Applied/ASCNet national conference (TENCon). Jim has served on ASCnet's Education Committee and as President of the Northern California Applied User Group (NOCUGAS).  

Most recently Jim was the Operations Manager for a WinTAM agency where he was responsible for overseeing Finance, IT and HR.

In 2005, Jim started I|O Practices Inc. to provide his experience and knowledge to agencies, allowing them to maximize their use of employees and technology.
